Mound City National Cemetery tells a powerful story of sacrifice and Civil War history. Located in southern Illinois, it spans 14 acres at the junction of two historic roads. Of the more than 9,600 individuals buried here, over half—more than 2,700 unknown—served during the Civil War, preserving their enduring legacy.
