DuSable Museum of African American History celebrates Black culture, history, and achievements through engaging exhibits, educational programs, and community events in Chicago’s historic Bronzeville neighborhood.
Celebrating over 50 years of sharing history, DuSable Museum of African American History is the nation's first independent museum dedicated to the collection, preservation and study of the history and culture of Africans and Americans of African descent. Exhibits, concerts, films, children's events and literary discussions are just a few of the institution's various programs offered.
Hours: Tuesday - Saturday. 10am- 5pm; Sunday. 12pm- 5pm: Admission: $10 Adults; $7 Students and Seniors; $ 3 Children ages 6 through 13; Children under the age of 5 are admitted free. Sundays are free to all. Permanent Exhibitions: "Red, White, Blue & Black: A History of Blacks in the Armed Forces"; "A Slow Walk to Greatness: The Harold Washington Story" "Africa Speaks"; and "The Ames Mural."
